Q

What is the order of priority for giving tzedakah?

A

The needy of your own family comes first. After which, the poor in your local community have precedence. This principle is known as aniyey ircha kodmim—the poor of your city come first. After fulfilling the needs of the poor in your own city, you may give to the poor of other communities.
